Southern Highland Craft Guild Announces the First Annual Auction: Handcrafted & Heartfelt

May 4, 5 PM to 8 PM at the Folk Art Center - The Southern Highland Craft Guild's First Annual Auction, Handcrafted & Heartfelt. John C Campbell Folk School Gala and Benefit Auction this Saturday

Don't miss one of the most joyous and exciting events of the year! The Annual Folk School Gala & Benefit Auction will be held in the Keith House this Saturday, June 9, 2012 starting at 5 PM. There will be delicious food, drinks, lively music, art, and live bidding lead by auctioneers Bob Grove and Tim Ryan.

Talented artists generously donated some of their finest pieces for this year's auction. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will benefit Folk School studios, equipment, and general programming. Browse a complete list of artists who have donated.

Penland School's 26th Annual Benefit Auction

August 12-13, 2011  The Penland School of Crafts Annual Benefit Auction is a gala weekend in the North Carolina mountains featuring the sale of more than 230 works in books, clay, drawing, glass, iron, letterpress, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, textiles, and wood. The Penland auction is one of the most important craft collecting events in the Southeast and a perfect opportunity to support Penland's educational programs, which have helped thousands of people to live creative lives.

The auctioneer for the weekend is Mark Oliver. Reservations are required. The event often sells out quickly; early reservations are recommended. Reservations will be accepted until available spaces are filled.

Absentee and phone bids are accepted for all auctions until noon on Friday, August 12, for a fee of $25 (includes catalog). All ticket purchasers and absentee bidders receive an illustrated catalog in July. Images of artwork and details about absentee bidding will be posted on our website in late June. Catalogs are available for $25.

John C Campbell Folk School Gala and Benefit Auction

June 11 at 5 PM,   the Annual Gala & Benefit Auction at the John C Campbell Folk School in Brasstown NC. Find handmade craft and art of the highest quality and enjoy a lively and  entertaining auction.

This event is not only a great opportunity to purchase art and other items, it is a time of togetherness and camaraderie that helps the Folk School grow and thrive. The Annual Gala will take place in the Community Room of the Keith House where there will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, drinks and wonderful live music. During this time bidders can socialize and enjoy the Folk School atmosphere while they peruse the wide array of silent auction items. The  live auction will take place at the culmination of the event, with spirited bidding led by local auctioneer, Bob Grove.

Ticket prices: $20 in advance; $25 at the door; $15 for "Friends of the Folk School" (donors who have donated over $500 to the school in 2011) Tickets include admission, food and two drink tickets. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and wine/beer will be served at this event. Tickets may be purchased online and in our Craft Shop.

Polk County Art Auction moved to March

Polk County Red Cross Eclectic Art Auction, previously scheduled for Feb 6 is now slated for March 20.Come join the fun for an eclectic art auction for the benefit of the Polk County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Tickets for the event are $20 donation in advance and a $25 donation at the door. Ticket donations includes admission to the auction, heavy hors d' oeuvres and one free beverage of your choice. 5:00 PM Preview and Silent Auction at 6:30 PM

Art for Penland Auction on Ebay

Art for Penland is a web-based art sales program designed to support Penland's classes, programs, studios, and scholarships through the sale of art contributed by artists and other donors.

This month Art for Penland is having an auction in the nonprofit section of eBay. Thirty-six works contributed by instructors and students will be auctioned beginning now and running through November 16. The auction includes work in clay, glass, iron, jewelry, painting, photography, and textiles.

Annual Blacksmith and Fine Craft Auction at John C Campbell

Nov 6 the Annual Blacksmith and Fine Craft Auction at John C Campbell Folk School  is an event not to be missed. The Silent Auction will take place from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. and the Live Auction will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Keith House Community Room.

Items up for bid include donated works of fine art and craft by our talented instructors and artists. Traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, weaving, pottery, and woodworking will be represented, as well as other unusual items of whimsy. Proceeds benefit the craft programs at the Folk School. A full day of events is planned in celebration of the new Clay Spencer Blacksmith Shop. A Tool Auction will be held from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the Clay Spencer Blacksmith Shop. The official dedication of this shop will follow immediately afterward, from 10:45 a.m. until noon. Please call the office at 828-837-2775 or 1-800-FOLK-SCH if you would like to make a reservation for lunch, which will be held in the Olive Campbell Dining Hall at noon. Lunch is $8 and chili, salad, and cornbread will be served.

Reservations are required. Tickets are limited to 400 and the event often sells out quickly; early reservations are recommended. Reservations will be accepted until the auction is filled.  Absentee and phone bids are accepted for all auctions until noon on Friday, August 13, 2010, for a fee of $25 (includes catalogue). All ticket purchasers and absentee bidders receive an illustrated catalogue in July. Images of artwork and details about absentee bidding will be posted on our website in late June. Catalogues are available for $25.

John C Campbell Online Auction Features Woodturned Pieces

Now through June 17, in conjunction with today's Annual Gala and Benefit Auction, the Folk School has launched its first ever online auction through Ebay. The auction features several woodturned pieces donated to the Doug Barnes Memorial Fund. The fund was created to ensure the continued success of the Folk School's woodturning program and honors the late Doug Barnes, former Resident Artist in Woodturning at the Folk School.
