June 30 - July 1 Cashiers Mountain Music Festival 2012 The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce presents the Fourth Annual Cashiers Mountain Music Festival. Tickets are $25 per day or $40 for a two day pass, children 12 and under are free. Bring a chair or blanket. No coolers, pets or firearms. Fireworks are planned at dark on Sunday, July 1. Arts, crafts, food, drinks and a children's zone. Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments for jamming in the park. There will be a local church barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, June 30.

Win Tickets to the 39th Annual Folk School Fall Festival!
October 1-2 at John C Campbell Folk Schoo - 39th Annual Folk School Fall Festival is one of the largest and most popular events of its type in the region, Fall Festival is a celebration of our rich Appalachian heritage. Fine craft, craft-making demonstrations, music and dance performances, kids' activities, tasty food, and a visit to the school's Craft Shop and History Center make Fall Festival a great way to begin the autumn season. Admission for adults is: $5.00, Kids 12-17: $3.00, Under 12: Free.
Check out their latest blog post for a chance to win free tickets!Over 200 craftspeople will sell fine craft and art work such as pottery, painting, metalwork, textiles, basketry, woodwork, and photography. Local community groups will provide a delicious variety of food, over 40 craft demonstrations will take place throughout the campus, and our History Center and Craft Shop will be open for visitors. A new addition to the festival this year is a Quilt Show held in the Quilting Studio, which will feature fine quilts by our instructor and students.
The entertainment schedule features some of the region's finest bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, Gospel, and folk music on two stages. Lively dance performances by the Campbell Folk School Cloggers and Morris, Garland, and Rapper Sword Dancers will also take place.
Bring the whole family to Fall Festival! Activities for kids include pony and wagon rides, petting alpacas, face painting, a drum circle, and adopting a pet from the Valley River Humane Society booth. Ot's Time to LAAFF again!
September 4 Lexington Avenue Arts & Fun Festival (LAAFF) LAAFF is an experience for the whole family. Kids will love making art, dancing, getting their faces painted and activities throughout the day. Lexington Avenue in downtown Asheville is shut down for the day and filled with the largest independent street fair in the southeast.
Kids are also in on the act showing off their breakdancing, parading, and making music. The big “kids” will enjoy the ever popular bicycle jousting, local brews, an eclectic culinary and artistic experience, as well as the new big people game, Big Wheels for Big Kids.
Arts 2 People has been presenting LAAFF for 10 years with the support of the Asheville Community. Arts 2 People offers classes to the general public on a sliding scale, and provides arts-in-education opportunities to underprivileged populations. The organization is committed to strengthening the reputation Asheville has as a haven for the arts, continuing in importance with future growth.

Asheville's 8th Annual Monford Arts and Music Festival this weekend
May 21 - 8th Annual Monford Arts and Music Festival offers two stages filled with continuous live music and entertainment from featured local and national artists, all with a tie to Asheville's historic Monford District. Over 100 vendors with Art, food, crafts and native garden plants will be packed into two streets with something for everyone from a special children's area, a traveling Art Van, to strolling Shakespearian actors and even a Chinese Dancing Lion. Saluda's 8th Annual Arts and Music Festival this weekend
May 21 - 8th Annual Arts and Music Festival. The town of Saluda celebrates the talent of more than 45 outstanding local artists and craftspeople from Western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina. Exhibits include paintings and drawings in oil, water colors, acrylic; wood working; photography; pottery; jewelry; sculptures; stained glass and metal working. Watch live demonstrations of landscape painting, weaving, pottery and blacksmithing.

Asheville's Hatchfest Scheduled for April 14 - 17 in 2011
For a third year Asheville's HATCH brings together luminaries in the arts and entertainment world to serve as mentors to groundbreaking new creative talent in an event called "Hatchfest". Asheville's studios, art galleries, theaters, concert halls and a variety of other locations become HATCH venues during the Hatchfest for experiential exhibits, panels, workshops, and networking events. With many of the panels, events and workshops open to the public the entire community has the opportunity to "hatch" their creativity in a positive and sustainable way.
Hatch is an non-profit organization operating year around to foster creative thinking and expression through networking, mentoring and exposure. The biannual International Hatchfests include performances, screenings, experiential events, panels, and real time (cross disciplinary) collaborations that provides exposure + expansion + evolution of vision. Arts and Crafts Festival in Tryon NC
Oct 16 - 17 head for the 3rd Annual Tryon Arts & Crafts Fall Festival now in it's 3rd year. The Event Features over 40 of the finest artisans and craftspeople of the region and will be held rain or shine on the grounds of Tryon Arts and Crafts. John C Campbell 37th Annual Fall Festival this Weekend
Fall is in the air and the folks at John C Campbell Folk School have been busy preparing the campus for the 37th annual Fall Festival, coming up this weekend, October 2 & 3. The fields have been hayed, the walking trails mulched, and the pumpkins and gourds harvested from the garden for a great weekend full of music, dancing, and crafts,
If you have never experienced the Fall Festival, now is the time! With 225 craft vendors, 20 food vendors, 40 demonstrators, and continuous live entertainment, there is something for everyone:
Shop for crafts from local and regional artists located along the mulched paths throughout campus. You'll find baskets, jewelry, weaving, knitwear, pottery, home decor, wood carvings, brooms, ironwork, beeswax candles, quilts, woodturned bowls, handmade soap, and much more.
Enjoy live entertainment at the Craft Shop and Festival Barn stages. Listen to bluegrass, old-time, gospel and ballad singing, and get ready to be wowed by the cloggers and the garland and morris dancers. Check out the entertainment schedule here.
