HandMade in America's Craft Labs offer a comprehensive curriculum of two-hour classes on business subjects, industry-specific skills, creativity, and access-to-market courses that are tailored to meet the unique needs of our craft artists in today’s economy.

Topic: Negotiations and Legal Issues

Beyond exclusivity and commission percentage, there are many issues to consider in a consignment agreement. Many of the same items apply for a simple exhibition agreement. Also, accepting commissions can be a nightmare without a proper contract. Tips regarding fifteen topics are included, plus problems to avoid, and how to diplomatically handle negotiations.

Artists often don't get together to formally critique each other's work, but it can be one of the best learning experiences. Hearing what someone else sees when they look at your work gives you new insight to what you make. Come participate in a formal critique of your work. Everyone who wishes to participate must bring one piece for critique.

HandMade in America Craft Lab: Finding Your Target Market

January 24, 6 PM - 8 PM at Energy Xchange- 66 EnergyXchange Drive in Burnsville, NC: Craft Lab - Finding Your Target Market.  One of the challenges in the art and craft business is discovering who your customers are. In this FREE two hour seminar, learn some simple steps to help you identify your target market and how to reach out to them.

The majority of businesses spend 6-8 months targeting the wrong market. By the time they realize it, they have wasted a good deal of time and money. There will be several activities in this class which will give you something concrete to leave with and you will be on the way to being successful in selling your work.
