Southeast Animal Fiber Fair in Asheville NC

October 27 - 29, 2017   Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair  Hosted by the  Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, in the McGough Arena,  The event includes 100’s of animals, crafters, workshops and demonstrations,  See spinning, knitting, weaving, felting and much more. Join a workshop class to improve your skills or just enjoy browsing and shopping the beautiful and unique apparel and wearable art at SAFF.

Free demonstrations take place all the time at the Fair. Watch as vendors and other festival-goers spin, knit, weave, crochet and felt throughout the event. At particular times, vendors will demonstrate a special technique.

Throughout the weekend you can try your hand at weaving with the WNC Fiber Handweavers Guild. They’ll have looms set up near the main entrance of the Davis, In the long hall that runs from the atrium area near the information desk. Experienced weavers will be on hand to answer your questions as you try out the fascinating transformation from yarn to cloth.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands This Week in Asheville NC

July 21 - 24, 2016     Semi-annual Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands   One of the most popular art and crafts events in the mountains, the Fair includes over 150 exhibitors, craft demonstrations, and live regional music and entertainment bringing Asheville's Civic Center (US Cellular Center) alive with fine traditional and contemporary crafts. 

Both levels of the Center offer artisans exhibiting and selling works of clay, fiber, glass, leather, metal, mixed media, natural materials, paper, wood and jewelry.  The Fair  showcases the work of members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild with members living in the mountain counties of nine states from Maryland to Alabama. 

Now in its 69th year, The Fair offers a variety of craft  ranging from contemporary to traditional in works of clay, wood, metal, glass, fiber, natural materials, paper, leather, mixed media, and jewelry. After a curation process of two juries, over 150 makers from the Southern Highland Craft Guild will carry on the legacy of the Fair.

The Southern Highland Craft Guild is a non-profit, educational organization established in 1930 with headquarters at the Folk Art Center

on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, NC. The Guild region covers the mountain counties of nine southeastern states from Maryland to Alabama, representing over 900 craftspeople. The Craft Fairs are one of the ways in which the Guild fulfills its mission which is to bring together the crafts and craftspeople of the Southern Highlands for the benefit of shared resources, education, marketing and conservation. Art on the Green in Historic Banner Elk NC

May 28 - 29, 2016    Art on the Greene   Three times each summer, the green at the Historic Banner Elk School comes to life with Art on the Greene featuring quality, hand-made arts and crafts from select regional and national artisans. 

Art on the Greene takes place Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend. The festivities include food vendors and other entertainment. Get details online. Admission: Free

Favorite Mountain Craft Show this Weekend in Burnsville NC

August 7 - 8, 2015    Mount Mitchell Craft Fair   Hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors will participate in the 59th Annual Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair. The event takes place on the Town Square and surrounding streets in historic downtown Burnsville NC. 

Handcrafters from all over the United States come to sell their wares including baskets, candles, kettle corn, pottery, stained glass, and more. Quilt squares appear not only on local barns and buildings but are for sale by some of the best quilters since Betsy Ross. 

Handmade clothes, purses, and vests, are just some of the items that adorn the beautifully decorated booths. There will also be homemade jams and jellies as well as Barbeque and Southern tea. 

The event is FREE to the public with bluegrass and cloggin entertainment throughout both days.
