Rediscovering Christmas at The Black Mountain Center for the Arts

December 19 at The Black Mountain Center for the Arts – Rediscovering Christmas Jim and Carol Anderson return to the Arts Center with their popular show, "Rediscovering Christmas." The show presents a series of original vignettes that range from the comedic tale of two blue-collar shepherds who are in the right place at the right time on Christmas Eve, to a piece about dealing with in-laws at Christmas, to a scene with an irrepressible Jamaican Wiseman who retells the Christmas story like you've never heard it before, and a comedy called “Minnesota Ice Fishing.”

Emerging Artists Exhibit at Black Mountain Center for the Arts

March 10 from 3 PM - 4 PM the Opening Reception for the The Emerging Artists Exhibit at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. The exhibit features the works of the students who take art classes at the Center under Bob Travers and Cheryl Keefer. Students range in age from 8 to retirees.The exhibit continues through April 5, 2013.

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts offers live theatre, classes and an exhibition gallery. The Center is located in the renovated Old City Hall at 225 West State Street in historic downtown Black Mountai NC. The Center includes Special Events as well as changing Gallery Shows.

Black Mountain Center for the Arts Brown Bag and Books Series

January 25   Brown Bag and Books Series  Beginning at noon The Black Mountain Center for the Arts welcomes back Montreat professor and acclaimed author Don King for a reading and book-signing. Black Mountain Books will be on hand with the first available copies of this brilliant new work with the author available for signing. Bring a bag lunch. No charge for this event, but donations are accepted.

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts Jazz Concerts

January 17   Jazz Concert Series at The Black Mountain Center for the Arts   This concert features Internationally known Jazz pianist and composer Michael Jefry Stevens brings guest artist, bassist Eliot Wadopian, onstage for the January concert. They will be performing acoustic jazz for piano and bass composed by Stevens.

A native of Asheville, Wadopian is a multiple Grammy Award winner, having performed for the past thirty years in the US, Europe and Asia and recorded with many professional ensembles including the Paul Winter Consort.
 

Last Chance to See the BMAC Clay Studio Exhibit

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts Clay Studio, including students and teachers, will be presented at the Center’s Upper Gallery. The BMAC Clay Studio Exhibit and Pottery Market will continue through January 18, 2013.
