Annual Blue Ridge Barbeque and Music Festival this Weekend in Tryon

June 12 - 13, 2015   Annual Blue Ridge Barbeque and Music Festival   The Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival is one of the area's biggest annual events with fantastic Barbecue, phenomenal music and incredible arts and crafts. 

Enjoy the classic car show or the Boss Hawg Run to  Fun.  Bring the kids, friends, family and more. No pets, no coolers are allowed. The festival is held at Harmon Field in Tryon NC and hosted by by the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce with all proceeds benefitting the Chamber’s operating budget and funding the Carolina Foothills Chamber Foundation.

The Foothills Crafts Fair is a juried crafts show held in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Barbeque and music Festival. Located on either side of a wide paved avenue and along the Pacolet River, there are usually soft breezes to cool the June temperatures down a bit and provide shoppers a more comfortable environment.  Craft lovers can find objects made from wood, paper, fiber, fabric, leather, metal, gems, glass, stone, clay and other natural materials.

Exhibiting artisans have come from as far north as New York, as far south as Florida, and as far west as Oklahoma.  2015 exhibitors include:

41st Annual Fall Festival at John C Campbell Folk School this Weekend

October 4 - 5, 2014   John C Campbell Folk School Fall Festival   Celebrate the rich heritage of Appalachia at the 41th annual Folk School Fall Festival, featuring over 200 juried and non-juried craftspeople. Handcrafted items for sale include jewelry, woodturning, pottery, weaving, ironwork, photography, rugs, woodcarvings, furniture, paintings, baskets, and much more. 

Live music and dance on two stages, great food, craft demonstrations, and kids' activities including pony rides are just a few more reasons why the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival is one of the most popular events in the region.  The brand-new Festival Barn Stage is now complete and will have its debut  this weekend, showcasing a cavalcade of fantastic dancers and musicians.

Enjoy a smooth and easy Fall Festival parking experience this year, the product of a team effort between the Folk School and Murphy Medical Center's Nursing Home Staff. We're adding a free parking shuttle, courtesy of Cherokee County Transit, to get you back and forth between the parking lot and the entrance gate. Handicapped parking is available in the gravel lot by Keith House and by the Fiber Arts Building. The shuttle service makes the Fall Festival accessible to all, regardless of where you park. 

Visit the Craft Shop during the Fall Festival, and enter to win a $100 Gift Certificate. The Folk School's Craft Shop represents more than 300 juried craftspeople. Browse an impressive collection of traditional and contemporary Appalachian crafts. The Craft Shop is also proud to be the home of the world-renowned Brasstown Carvers.

October Leaves Craft Show in Maggie Valley

October 12-13   October Leaves Craft Show   It’s October and that means it is time for cool mornings and beautiful fall colors. Come and spend the day at the October Leaves Craft Show enjoying the panoramic view of the mountains in Maggie Valley.

The craft show will be held Saturday from 9 AM - 5 PM and Sunday from 9 AM - 4 PM at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking.

A variety of fine handmade crafts created by artisans from throughout the Southeast including furniture, jewelry, knitting, pottery, quilted items, painted shirts, floral arrangements, leather work, scroll work, crochet, soaps and more.

Food Vendors will be on hand with hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian Sausage, funnel cakes, kettle corn, lemonade, milk shakes, coffee, and other taste treats. Plan on eating with them while enjoying the music of Dave Seratt and the many Christian music groups he brings.

The event will also be hosting a food drive to benefit the local community. The Show has joined with the Maggie Valley Methodist Church Food Pantry to replenish their shelves. With every donation you will receive a raffle ticket. This ticket will give you the opportunity to win a handmade craft donated by one of the talented artisans or a gift certificate donated by one of Maggie Valley’s merchants. You do not have to be present to win. The Drawing will be held Sunday afternoon.

Brushy Mountain Apple Jam One of the Largest Arts and Crafts Festivals in the Southeast

October 5   Brushy Mountain Apple Jam   This event is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast and features a large variety of arts and crafts, food and entertainment. Events begin at 8 AM and continue until 5 PM. There will be live entertainment at the corner of 10th and Main Streets. Open jam. 

The festival is sponsored annually by the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club and have been held on the 1st Saturday of October since 1978. 

Over 100 civic, church and other non-profit organizations participate in this FREE festival. Music and entertainment venues include: Bluegrass in the Park, Americana, Gospel a  the J.P., and Dance on the Deck.

Bele Chere Festival in Asheville Features the Arts Park

July 26-28   Bele Chere Festival   The largest free outdoor street festival in the Southeast. The three-day festival on the streets of Downtown Asheville features live, original music all day and night for 200,000 festival-goers. Bele Chere means "beautiful living" and comes from an ancient Scottish dialect. Bele Chere offers the unique opportunity to see, taste and hear some of the region's finest art, cuisine and music.



The Arts Park features some of the best artists of Bele Chere, exhibiting jewelry, photography, pottery, woodwork, paintings, and metalwork. All items sold in the Arts Park are handmade. Visit the selected artists in the Drhumor and Asheville Savings Bank lots on Patton Avenue between Church Street and Lexington Avenue. Artists not featured in the Arts Park exhibit throughout the festival grounds.

Foothills Arts and Crafts Festival in Tryon this Week

June 14-15  The  Foothills Arts and Crafts Festival is a juried fine arts and crafts show that has enjoyed a reputation for the range and quality of items for sale. With nothing manufactured or imported, this show is proud to offer our festival-goers a best of the best shopping experience. 


Exhibiting artisans come from as far north as New York, as far south as Florida, and as far west as Oklahoma to show their stuff at the Foothills Arts & Crafts Festival. Since each item must be handmade by the exhibiting artisan, the Foothills Arts & Crafts Festival presents a great opportunity for visitors to talk to the craftspeople and artists and learn about the artistic process. Many of the artists and craftsmen demonstrate their skills and will accept special orders.

The Show is held in conjunction with Tryon's Barbeque and Music Festival, one of the area's biggest annual events.

Village Square Craft Show in Cashiers NC an Annual Memorial Weekend Event

May 26-27   Village Square Craft Show   Annual Memorial Day Weekend art and crafts show in downtown Highlands. The show features fine art and whimsical folk art, plus high-quality crafts such as fine wood work, metal work, quilts, birdhouses, and twig furniture. Garden Jubilee Festival in Hendersonville Memorial Day Weekend

May 25 - 26   20th Annual Garden Jubilee Festival   The Garden Jubilee features more than 200 vendors selling thousands of plants, arts and crafts, garden talks and clinics, garden accessories, and food. This downtown festival covers 8 blocks of Main Street from Sixth Avenue-Caswell Street.

Local and regional nurseries will be selling 1000s of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and hard-to-find plants on every block of the festival. The festival is always held during the Memorial Day weekend.

Heritage Festival in Bryson City Includes Mountain Arts and Crafts

May 24-25   Swain County Heritage Festival   This two day festival has it all. Friday night entertainment is loaded with local talent featuring an emphasis on old time gospel music. Saturday entertainment is classic country and bluegrass, clogging and Indian hoop dancing.

In addition to music, the festival offers local arts and crafts, food, games for the kids, a log-sawing contest and fun for the whole family. The event takes place form 6 PM - 9 PM Friday and 10 AM to 6:30 PM on Saturday at Riverfront Park on Mitchell Street in downtown Bryson City NC.


Banner Elk Herb Festival Offers a Variety of Mountain Arts and Crafts

May 25-27   Banner Elk Herb Festival   The annual Banner Elk Herb Festival takes place at the Historic Banner Elk Elementary School. The Herb Festival offers a vast selection of herbs you' won't find elsewhere. There will be well over 5,000 herb plants for sale, a fantastic fragrant “sea of herbs. All the herb plants are organic and planted in biodegradable pots. About 60 vendors sell their products at the festival. In addition to herbs, arts, crafts and food items will be available.

Attendees can purchase pottery, fine art, portrait photography,
goat cheese and homemade herb bread to name just a few items. A “kid zone” includes a petting zoo, old-fashioned games, spin art, a putt-putt course and a dunking booth where festival goers can dunk a fireman. The festival raises money for the volunteer firefighters of Banner Elk. Attendees can purchase a Banner Elk Community Supporter Sticker for any amount, and all proceeds go to the firefighters. The festival will also feature live music.

The Henderson County Boyd BBQ Expo allows BBQ teams compete in one of two divisions: Professional (Restaurants, Caterers and those that compete on the Professional BBQ circuit) and Back Yard (all others).

Arts and Crafts this Weekend at the Annual Herb Festival

April 13-14  9th Annual Herb Festival  Savor the smell and taste of fresh-grown herbs with a selection including several unique medicinal, cooking and ornamental herbs. The herbal combination planters include the Scarborough Fair Combo, the Indoor Herbs Combo, and several other attractive and useful assortments. 

More than 25 craftsmen, vendors and musicians will exhibit and entertain both days. The event is held at Painters Greenhouse, approximately 5 miles south of I-40 at exit 73 in Old Fort NC.
