Art and Taste of Appalachia
Autumn's colors and flavors take center stage during
this popular annual festival. This arts and food event fills the
sidewalks of Dillsboro with a variety of mountain artisans demonstrating
their skills, plus food vendors serving up a taste of the North Carolina
mountains.
Local musicians and street entertainers add music to
festivities, while restaurants and shops are open to serve the crowds
throughout the day. 10 AM - 4 PM.

Weaverville Hosts Art in Autumn
September 21 Art in Autumn This is the seventh annual Art in Autumn Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival. Over 100 juried artists and craftspeople, as well as an exciting array of food and live music. The festival brings a lively celebration of community and fine art to the Main Street of the 'Mayberry-esque' town of Weaverville.

August 10 Art in the Park A juried arts and craft show featuring 90 artists held in the picturesque downtown park once a month from May to October. Some of the best local and regional artists and craftspeople showcase their handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, photography, painting and more. Prices for objects, from a handmade postcard to a large piece of furniture, range from $5 to $5,000.
Art in the Park began in 1962 with a handful of local artists. Today the juried show attracts approximately 90 artists from across the Southeast along with 1000s of enthusiastic art lovers.

Asheville's Art in the Park this Father's Day Weekend
June 15 Art in the Park Artisans working in Glass, Ceramics, Wood, Jewelry, and metal show and sell in a public market setting in the center of downtown Asheville in Pack Square Park. The event takes place on three consecutive Saturdays each June and October.
Nationally known artists exhibit at this event and the best part is they are local. 10% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to a local art non-profit organization.

Foothills Arts and Crafts Festival in Tryon this Week
Exhibiting artisans come from as far north as New York, as far south as Florida, and as far west as Oklahoma to show their stuff at the Foothills Arts & Crafts Festival. Since each item must be handmade by the exhibiting artisan, the Foothills Arts & Crafts Festival presents a great opportunity for visitors to talk to the craftspeople and artists and learn about the artistic process. Many of the artists and craftsmen demonstrate their skills and will accept special orders.
The Show is held in conjunction with Tryon's Barbeque and Music Festival, one of the area's biggest annual events.

Banner Elk Herb Festival Offers a Variety of Mountain Arts and Crafts

Banner Elk Herb Festival
The annual Banner Elk Herb Festival takes place at the Historic Banner Elk Elementary School. The Herb Festival offers a vast selection of herbs you'
won't find elsewhere. There will be well over 5,000 herb plants for sale, a fantastic fragrant “sea of herbs. All the herb plants are organic and planted in biodegradable pots.
About 60 vendors sell their products at the festival. In addition to herbs, arts, crafts and food items will be available.
Attendees can purchase pottery, fine art, portrait photography, goat cheese and homemade herb bread to name just a few items. A “kid zone” includes a petting zoo, old-fashioned games, spin art, a putt-putt course and a dunking booth where festival goers can dunk a fireman. The festival raises money for the volunteer firefighters of Banner Elk. Attendees can purchase a Banner Elk Community Supporter Sticker for any amount, and all proceeds go to the firefighters. The festival will also feature live music.

They travel in horse-pulled wagons stocked with a bicycle-powered silent cinema and and Appalachian-Balkan-brass-klezmer-dixieland string quartet.

Mount Mitchell Craft Fair begins Today in Burnsville
August 3-4 Mount Mitchell Craft Fair Hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors will participate in the 56th Annual Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair. The event takes place on the Town Square and surrounding streets. Handcrafters from all over the United States come to sell their wares including baskets, candles, kettle corn, pottery, stained glass, and so much more.
