"Within the Lines" Exhbit, Reception and Panel Discussion

November 7, 2014  6 PM - 8 PM at HandMade in America, 125 S. Lexington Ave. Suite 101a, Asheville, NC - Reception and Panel Discussion for Within the Lines, Creative Perspectives on Wilderness.  Food and drink during the reception is provided by Dough Market and One World Brewing.  The panel discussions are moderated sessions with some of the region’s most significant writers, artists and thinkers on issues of natural heritage and conservation.

Each panel will feature comments by the panelists followed by an opportunity for those in the audience to ask questions. The reception begins at 6:00 PM with the panel discussions at 6:30 PM, and all are free and open to the public.

Sue Grier's Pottery Artist Reception

January 15, 5:30 - 8:00 PM at Beverly-Hanks Discovery Center in Biltmore Park Town Square, 1 Town Square Blvd, Asheville NC -  HandMade in America invites all to pottery artist Sue Grier's Artist Reception.

Sue is originally from New Mexico where she studied oil and arcrylic painting at New Mexico State University. After moving to South Carolina 20 years ago, she began to pursue her interest in clay. For years she worked in Columbia, SC as a production potter, attending workshops at Arrowmont and Penland. Sue had considered herself a self-taught potter until 2004 when she decided to attend Clemson University to pursue a MFA. After graduating, she took a part-time position teaching ceramics at Clemson where she taught for 6 years.
Sue Grier currently lives in Leicester, NC, where she has her studio and focuses on one-of-a-kind functional and decrotative pieces.

Exhibits Opens at HandMade in America

June 14 - September 13, 2013 at HandMade in America, 124 S Lexington Avenue, Suite 101 in Asheville NC    Needled: Contemporary Needle Craft.  This exhibition will highlight contemporary artists pushing the limits of traditional needle craft techniques by making cutting edge and conceptual pieces that cross the boundaries of craft, design, and fine art. 

There will be an opening reception on June 14 at 5:30 P.

New Exhibit at the Asheville Art Museum

October 19 - Jan 27, 2013 at the Asheville Art Museum, 2 South Pack Square in Asheville NC:  Robert Morris: Mind/Body/Earth   The exhibit is free with Membership or Museum Admission.

Robert Morris is one of the most influential artists of the post-World War II generation. His writings and art have inspired many artists over the past 50 years. In his art he explores the nexus between the mind, body and world.

Involved in many contemporary art movements, Morris has had particular influence in Minimalism and Post-Minimalism. In the 1960s, Morris developed a large body of work, ranging from monochrome, Minimalist pieces often made of plywood, to a combination of original performance productions, to works of industrial felt.
