Bakersville News: Juried Art and Craft Show this Weekend

Bakersville Creekside Arts Festival

The juried show features some of the finest arts and crafts to be found anywhere in the region.Great food is available from a variety of vendors. Music is provided by talented local performers, and there will be a street dance on Saturday night. Attendance at last year's Fesitval was an estimated 5,000 exhibitors reported brisk sales.

Brevard's 4th Friday Gallery Walk and Scenic 276 Studio

September 25 - 27 in Brevard NC. The Art of Brevard galleries and art spots will host the 4th Friday Gallery Walk on Friday, September 25 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in downtown Brevard followed by the Scenic Hwy. 276 Studio Tour on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 & 27 in Transylvania County.

Aaron Morgan Photography on Display in Bryson City

Through the end of September the photography of Smoky Mountain Times Reporter Aaron Morgan will be on display at the Marianna Black Library. The image here of yellow flowers, the Chamber of Commerce fountain and the Old Swain County Courthouse reflected in the Chamber window was taken around 9 p.m. in late May this year.  Aaron's passion for photography has centered on using dramatic light to create surreal night scenes. The display case in the library features what Aaron considers his "best work."

Benefit Auction Works Now Available on Art for Penland Website

Art for Penland is a web-based art sales program designed to support Penland's classes, programs, studios, and scholarships through the sale of art contributed by artists and other donors. The Penland Gallery is currently featuring four outstanding pieces by sculptor Michael Sherrill, whose piece Mouths to Feed was a spectacular part of the 2009 Annual Auction.

3rd Annual Celebration of the Arts in Spindale

September 18-22 at the Foundation Lobby, at Isothermal Community College. A juried event with painting, pottery, sculpture, textiles, wood work, and jewelry handmade by 60 members of the Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild. Hours: 9 to 5 (Sunday 1 to 5). All works on exhibit may be purchased. The Artist Gala will be held on September 18 between 5-7pm.

Rastafarian Ancient Living Arts and Kulture Festival- Black Mountain

September 13 The First Annual Rastafarian Ancient Living Arts and Kulture Festival (RALAK Fest), presented by the Black Mountain Asheville Rastafarian Collective (Black Mountain ARC) is an all day educational, interfaith, music and cultural event that will feature speakers from a vast majority of religious sects, local civic leaders, representatives within our community and national educators. RALAK is also a celebration of The Ethiopian (2002) New Year, which is actually two days before on Sept 11th.The family-friendly event will begin with spiritual blessings from various cultures as well as the United States and Ethiopian National Anthems. $30 admission
