Appalachian Summer Now Underway at Appalachian State University

June 22 - July 31, 2015    Appalachian Summer at Appalachian State University   Experience a month-long arts festival that features events in music, dance, theatre, visual arts and film on the campus of Appalachian State University. 

With award-winning artists from all across the world coming to the High Country in one summer, the festival has become an attraction that appeals to thousands and has been ranked one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast" by the Southeastern Tourism Society. 

There is something for everyone from fine art enthusiasts, to country and bluegrass fans and all those who like a good mixture of both. Get a complete event schedule at the site.

Western Carolina University Hosts Annual Arts and Crafts Show this Weekend

June 27 - 28, 2015    Mountain Artisans Art and Crafts Show  at WCU  10 AM - 5 PM  Mountain Artisans presents the Summmertime Art and Craft Show at the Western Carolina University Ramsey Center.  Authentic crafts from the hands of 100 Regional Artisans.  Admission $4.00 adults, Children under 12 Free.  Free parking.

Western North Carolina University is located in Cullowhee near Sylva NC.

Asheville Art in the Park - a Favorite Asheville Art Market

June 27, 2015   Art in the Park    Artisans working in Glass, Ceramics, Wood, Jewelry, and metal show and sell in a public market setting in the center of Asheville NC in Pack Square Park. 

The event takes place on three consecutive Saturdays each June and October. Nationally known artists exhibit at this event and the best part is- they are local. 10% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to a local art non-profit organization.

June 26 - 27, 2015    Stecoah Valley Spring Artisans Drive About   Visit artisans' studios and galleries during the open house drive-about studio tour. Get up close and person with the artist and see numerous live demonstrations.

The hours will be 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM both days. The Schoolhouse Cafe at The Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center will also be open. The Cultural Arts Center is located at 121  Schoolhouse Road in Robbinsville NC

Blowing Rock Art and History Museum Summer Concert

June 21, 5:30 PM at The Blowing Rock History Museum, 159 Chestnut St in Blowing Rock NC - Summer Concert featuring Zoe and Cloyd.

The husband-wife duo of renowned fiddler and singer Natalya Zoe Weinstein and celebrated songwriter and vocalist John Cloyd Miller will be performing a mix of original and traditional material on fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin.  Their unique sound is exciting and new while also being comfortably familiar. 

This kicks off the Museum's Summer Concert Series which continues monthly through September. Tickets are $15 for members, $20 for non-members.

Random Arts Hosts Seth Apter Workshop

June 26 - 28, 2015 at Random Arts 481 Louisiana Ave in Saluda NC: Collage and Stencil Workshops.  These are Seth Aptner's final workshop sessions for 2015.

June 26 - Dimensional Stencils. Stencils are popular and they are perfect in mixed-media art.They are inexpensive, re-usable and easy to store. You will learn how to create textured and dimensional effects using stencils and be introduced to stencil techniques that you may have never thought of. Put all of these new techniques into use with a variety of products and create amazing art. Fee $125. 10 AM - 4 PM. s\Some supplies are required, however the teacher will be sharing his stencils and other products with you.

June 27 -  Collage Camp - this workshop i now full.

June 28 - Picture Windows. Memories of your pet? Special friend? A happy birthday tribute? Start digging out those fave photos and pick out the best ones for this all day workshop and your special gift will be completed by the end of the day. You'll create a double-sided, 3-foot long, hanging montage that is every bit as artful as your photos. Large sheets of watercolor paper will soon transform into beautiful and decorative surfaces using a series of layered paint techniques. You'll then move on to creating the form for the photo display using folding and die cutting techniques. Next comes your photo op where "ordinary photographs are turned extraordinary through a series of hand-altering approaches." Your pieces finally come together, and you leave with both a one-of-a-kind mixed media project as well as a slew of techniques to apply to future projects. Fee $125. 10 AM - 4 PM

Appalachian Lifestlye Celebration in Waynesville

June 13, 2015   Appalachian Lifestlye Celebration   A full day celebration of mountain heritage, live music and dance, crafts, and Appalachian life skills. Both educational and entertaining, the event features craft demonstrations such as basketry, wood carving, quilting, along with storytelling, traditional mountain music, clogging, and old time food vendors.10 AM - 5 PM.

Annual Blue Ridge Barbeque and Music Festival this Weekend in Tryon

June 12 - 13, 2015   Annual Blue Ridge Barbeque and Music Festival   The Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival is one of the area's biggest annual events with fantastic Barbecue, phenomenal music and incredible arts and crafts. 

Enjoy the classic car show or the Boss Hawg Run to  Fun.  Bring the kids, friends, family and more. No pets, no coolers are allowed. The festival is held at Harmon Field in Tryon NC and hosted by by the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce with all proceeds benefitting the Chamber’s operating budget and funding the Carolina Foothills Chamber Foundation.

The Foothills Crafts Fair is a juried crafts show held in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Barbeque and music Festival. Located on either side of a wide paved avenue and along the Pacolet River, there are usually soft breezes to cool the June temperatures down a bit and provide shoppers a more comfortable environment.  Craft lovers can find objects made from wood, paper, fiber, fabric, leather, metal, gems, glass, stone, clay and other natural materials.

Exhibiting artisans have come from as far north as New York, as far south as Florida, and as far west as Oklahoma.  2015 exhibitors include:
