The Bascoms own 1978 Frankenthaler untitled 96-inch-high stain painting will create a vibrant centerpiece for this exhibition that will also include loans of paintings by Hans Hoffman, Morris Louis, Robert Motherwell, Kenneth Noland, and Jules Olitsky from museums and private collectors. This will be a celebration of not only non-objective imagery and mid-20th c. modernism, but also it pays homage to Frankenthaler herself who recently celebrated her 80th year.

Art in Bloom- Black Mountain Fund -Raiser

June 18-21 The Black Mountain Center for the Arts. A special event of art and flowers. The artwork in the gallery, which is on loan from regional galleries, will be complemented by interpretations of flowers by area floral designers. The fragility of the flowers dictates that the show will only last a few days. There are several ticketed events, which is a fundraiser for our local non-profit Arts Center. A Gala Preview Party on Thursday, June 18, a local garden tour on Fri/Sat. June 19-20, an Ikebana demonstration and afternoon tea on Fri. June 19, a special gardening presentation on “Best Garden Plants for NC” with author Pam Beck, followed by a book signing on Sat, June 20, and a show of the garden tour plain air painters work on Sunday, June 21.

Join longtime Snowbird guests M.C. and Jim Jerkins as they share the joy of making pottery with instruction as to how to form your clay piece, decorate it and glaze it. If you'd like, M.C. and Jim will take your work back to their studio and fire it in the kiln and then ship it to you !
No experience is necessary. Classes will be held Monday thru Thursday during the day with a break for lunch, hiking, napping, etc.

Sculpture Stroll- Black Mountain

Black Mountain is pleased to present a “Sculpture Stroll” running now through December 2009.

Custom sculpture is showcased at various outdoor sites throughout the town,
featuring artists such as Julia Burr, Julia Stout, Dan Howachyn, Tekla, Carro, Dave Taylor, and Marty Cain.

The public is invited to an opening event featuring live music on Thursday

TC Arts Summer Art Camp
