2nd Annual Holiday Pottery Sale in Black Mountain

Collage: From Paper to Cloth Workshop
Nov 14 & 15, 10AM - 5PM, Asheville NC. Margaret Couch Cogswell, currently a a Resident Artist at Penland School of Crafts, conducts the workshop. In this class you'll experiment with translating paper collage images into a cloth wall hanging. On the first day you'll create several small paper collages using simple techniques. On the second day you'll transform one of your paper collages into a cloth wall hanging. Emphasis will be placed on freedom of movement between media. Fee: $185 + materials. “Free Lace” Workshop
Nov 14, 10:30AM-4:30PM, Black Mountain Center for the Art, 225 W State St, Black Mountain NC. “Free Lace” Workshop at BMCA in November in time for the holidays. “Free Lace” is a way of producing wearable art lace made from combined fibers such as ribbon, thread, suching, yarn, and more. The materials are applied and stitched to a water-soluble stabilizer. Once the piece is placed in water, the stabilizer disappears and a wonderful piece of lace appears. Read more...

Local Giveaway at John C Campbell
John C Campbell Folk School announces local giveaways are available from the Folk School occasionally when certain classes have lower enrollment. Tuition is free, but students will be required to pay a $25 registration fee and any additional materials costs. Each person may only claim a giveaway one time every 12 months. Local Giveaways are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis and may not be used on a class for which you are already registered.
