This will be a celebration of not only non-objective imagery and mid-20th c. modernism, but also it pays homage to Frankenthaler herself who recently celebrated her 80th year.

Art in Bloom- Black Mountain Fund -Raiser
June 18-21 The Black Mountain Center for the Arts. A special event of art and flowers. The artwork in the gallery, which is on loan from regional galleries, will be complemented by interpretations of flowers by area floral designers. The fragility of the flowers dictates that the show will only last a few days. There are several ticketed events, which is a fundraiser for our local non-profit Arts Center. A Gala Preview Party on Thursday, June 18, a local garden tour on Fri/Sat. June 19-20, an Ikebana demonstration and afternoon tea on Fri. June 19, a special gardening presentation on “Best Garden Plants for NC” with author Pam Beck, followed by a book signing on Sat, June 20, and a show of the garden tour plain air painters work on Sunday, June 21.

June 15-19 Robbinsville, Snowbird Mountain Lodge. Join longtime Snowbird guests M.C. and Jim Jerkins as they share the joy of making pottery with instruction as to how to form your clay piece, decorate it and glaze it. If you'd like, M.C. and Jim will take your work back to their studio and fire it in the kiln and then ship it to you !
No experience is necessary. Classes will be held Monday thru Thursday during the day with a break for lunch, hiking, napping, etc.
