The school is presenting two workshops taught by the highly regarded nonprofit group Creative Capital:
A one-day workshop, open to all artists, will take place on September 10. The one-day workshop (September 10) will cover strategic planning and promotion for individual artists including goal setting, time management, financial tracking, and art business management. The workshop will consider marketing and promotion as an integral, natural part of the creative process. The cost of this workshop is $40, which includes lunch and snacks. Some housing is available for participants who are traveling from a distance.
An intensive weekend workshop, open to artists living in Western North Carolina, will run September 11 - 13. The weekend workshop (September 11 - 13) is an intensive two-and-a-half-day crash course in self-management, strategic planning, fundraising, and promotion including lectures, peer critiques, one-on-one consultations, interactive exercises, handouts, and written assignments. Participants will be given a workbook as well as handouts with practical how-to information and they will meet with leaders in small work groups. Artists applying for this workshop must live in Western North Carolina and will be asked to submit a resume, a letter of interest, and photographs of their work. There is no tuition charged for the weekend workshop, but there is a $60 fee for meals and snacks. On-campus housing is available for $80 per night; participants are not required to stay on campus.
