Workshop: Current Market Trends for Craft Artists

Time/Place: Oct 28, Burnsville and Oct 29, Asheville 9:30AM-3:30PM.   Current Market Trends for Craft Artists  by  Keith Recker, an internationally-recognized market trends expert, is a full-day workshop on colors, trends and the current markets. In the morning session, Recker will illustrate and discuss current market trends as they relate to craft artists by using several hundred images of fashion, home products, art and photography. Divided into 6 color palettes and moods, these 6 "metaphors" will provide a platform for creative thinking on how to create handmade artisan goods with an undercurrent of the same forces that influence and inspire consumers. This session will conclude with a live brainstorming, with the entire group's help, focusing on 2 or 3 craft businesses - "creating product on the hoof." The afternoon session will be interactive, discussing significant business challenges of individual participants and focusing on what artisan businesses can do to address an environment where most consumers are thinking of consuming less.
