August 28, 10 AM - 3 PM the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center will host a beginner’s level basket weaving class. Participants will make a small Market Basket. Before there were brown paper bags or plastic totes, there was the Market Basket. It was used to carry produce to market to sell, and then brought home full of needed staples. These baskets were functional and generally rather plain. Their beauty lies in the memories they evoke and the suggestion of a return to the simpler life. The class is $35 which includes the materials needed to make an 8” x 12” basket with handle. Participants should plan to bring a bag lunch and a few supplies from home.
