Penland Classes: Painting with Gold

Miles Bair, Trees with Snow

May 27 - June 8 at Penland School of Crafts - Painting with Gold with Miles Bair, sesson 1.  This class will explore the brilliant effect of gold's glittering light combined with landscape painting. Step-by-step techniques are covered for incorporating metallic leaf and powder into acrylic paintings.

Using composition gold and silver, students will practice gilding techniques that can be applied to any painting style or medium including collage, oil, and watercolor. The exciting possibilities for combining contemporary landscape painting with gilding are also explored. The result will be a series of small landscape paintings and a new visual vocabulary. Students of all levels are welcome.
