Annual Wood Day at the Folk Art Center in Asheville NC

August 8, 2015    Wood Day at the Folk Art Center  An annual celebration of wood crafts including  craft demonstrations and hands-on activities. The 14th Annual Carve Off Competition takes place between 1 - 3 PM. 

For the contest, participants have two hours to turn a simple block of wood into a work of art. Carvers must sign up by 12:30 to participate. Demonstrations include flute making, wood turning, broom making and furniture design and construction. FREE admission.

Shop the Artisans Gallery In-store and On-line

Visit the Stecoah Artisans Gallery Monday thru Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM. The Gallery represents over 150 local and regional artisans who craft in wood, fiber, glass, clay, silver and other natural resources. Beginning in April, the gallery will be open 10 AM - 5 PM Monday through Saturday.

The Gallery is also online at StecoahGallery.com. Shop dozens of hand-crafted items on your computer, tablet or phone; and even more products are coming soon.

The Stecoah Artisans Gallery is located in the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center, 121 Schoolhouse Road in Robbinsville NC.

February Sale at Heartwood Gallery

The February sale has begun at Saluda's Heartwood Gallery. There are two racks of pottery and glass and two cases of selected jewelry reduced by 25-40%. It's a great time to get gifts or something pretty to pick yourself up during the last of the grey winter days. The Gallery needs to make room for all the exciting new work that has been ordered and will be put onj display beginning in  in March.

Heartwood Gallery, located at 21 East Main Street in historic downtown Saluda NC,  offers handmade wearables, jewelry, paper, paintings, fine porcelain, stoneware, glass, metal and wood  - just a few of the crafts on display. Weaverville Roots Festival Celebrates Local Heritage

May 26-28     Weaverville Roots Festival   A three-day celebration of the culture and heritage of Weaverville, NC. On May 26 Heritage Day will fill the downtown and park areas with music, demonstrations, food and other entertainment. On  May 27 the town will celebrate its Tree City USA status with Arbor Day activities and ceremonies in the nature park, plus entertain visitors with gospel music and other sacred music. On Memorial Day, May 28th, the town roots will be celebrated by honoring those heroes who gave their lives for freedom as well as those heroes who live in the area. There will also be a commemorative ceremony at Lake Louise.
